Make a Difference
Onward: The Campaign for South Dakota will help us advance our priorities. Here's how:
Private support is essential to help offset the rising cost of tuition. Undergraduate and graduate scholarships help the university attract outstanding students from the region and across the country. Alumni and friends of the university who choose to create such educational opportunity assure the future of USD, South Dakota — and the world. Today’s students are the leaders of tomorrow.
Students achieve great things with talented professors. Endowed chairs and professorships assist the university in recruiting and retaining exceptional faculty. State funding can never compete with a professor’s income in the private sector, but with private support, we can close the gap. The best professors attract the best students. Who inspired you?
Student and Faculty Enrichment
These funds expand academic opportunities beyond the classroom — broadening academic experience and educating students to thrive in a complex global society. Students and faculty are able to participate in field research, attend professional conferences, showcase their talents and travel abroad to learn about other nations and cultures. Enrichment funds also support campus visits and appearances by visiting artists, scholars and professionals.
The average age of buildings on the USD campus is 67 years old — which illustrates the need for renovation and expansion. The oldest still in use, East Hall, was built in 1887. Onward campaign priorities include new construction for athletics and Health Sciences, more space for the National Music Museum’s growing collection and significant renovations to the Law School and Fine Arts buildings. Up-to-date facilities strengthen the educational experience for students and visitors alike.
